22 April 2013

one plane, two planes, big planes, box planes.

remember air devils?  well since jon started working full time at the beginning of the year he had to drop the club president gig, but everyone else kept on working towards the competition that is held every year.  unfortunately at the last minute the air devils didn't get to compete this year.  a seriously sad ending to this semester.

(but hey, that design report was awesome!)
(this shouldn't mean anything to you, it barely means anything to me.)

we had already planned to go to the competition since the event was in tucson.  jon wanted to check out the other planes, and i wanted to do the same, but i also wanted to see what this whole dealio was all about.  i spent a long time competing with competition, after all.  so jon put on his flying shirt and i prepped myself for something geeky.

and holy nerd-tastic, you guys, it was pretty cool.  really!  it was airplane-nerd-heaven, i tell you.

here are some (ha) of my favorite pictures from the visit:

(the cheering section for the sooners was quite impressive. they brought a whole army of supporters with them, which i thought was very cool.)

(nerdliest outfit ever, i loved it.)

(the canterbury tales!  a dual english-engineer major, maybe?!)

and now that i've seen the other clubs and planes for myself, i am dying to see the results of the competition.  so, you could say that my once-strained relationship with this event all smoothed out.  bygones, and all that.  :)
