on a golden springtime.

happy spring day!!  today is the first day of spring and the day of the vernal equinox.  do you know what that means?

it means that today day and night will be equal lengths (theoretically), and now the day will surpass the night in length until the summer solstice, the longest day of the year.  also, it means that the sun will cross the celestial equator - so it's celestial coordinates are 0, 0.  is that cool or what??

ok, maybe not.

fittingly, it is also spring break this week.  so far, i've spent the vacation listening to christmas music and trying to fight off allergies with a head that's all silly from allergy medicine.  oh, and braving snow.

anytime someone has ever asked me if i was going home for spring break, i'd always say no, because "it's warmer here than it is in pennsylvania."

well not in the past few days, danny.  some places in arizona are quite chilly and snow-covered right now.  i threw the first snowball in years yesterday (and missed), and it was very strange to me.  i'm not sure why, it just was.  (side note: who wants to fight me and argue that arizona isn't pretty?)

anyway... happy spring, people.  celebrate by playing in the snow, getting a tan, eating a free water ice, and being all giddy about equinoxes (equinoxen?).
